The Company

Founded in 1981, Orchard House Foods was the first business in the UK to commercialise freshly squeezed orange juice. They remain the UK's market leader in ready-to-eat fresh fruit products, fresh fruit patisserie and drinks for leading UK retailers.

The Issue

Due to their rigorous cleaning standards and copius amounts of water being used to cleandown the factory equipment, some of the equipment becomes unstable and eventually fails. The biggest issue they face is with the Line Verification Barcode Scanners, which are a critical part of there quality control procedures and it is imperative that these Scanners are in full working order. The Barcode Scanners are extremely expensive to replace and install, and this would counteract their drive for reducing their carbon footprint. But it seems there is no alternative?
